Day 1 Malaga

Arrival and transfer from the airport to your hotel for check-in. Once considered the poor cousin of Andalusia’s capital city Sevilla, Malaga now competes successfully for attention, thanks to its profusion of quirky museums, delightful pedestrianised centre, innovative restaurants and stylish hotels and boutiques. Overnight Malaga (hotel).

Day 2 Malaga

A free morning at leisure to perhaps visit the city’s important Picasso Museum. Then, your cruise adventure begins with embarkation 3 pm. Dinner on board. Overnight in port.

Day 3 Malaga - Granada - Malaga

Optional full day excursion to Granada, one of the most fascinating cities in Europe and the last Muslim city to fall to the Christians in 1492. We will visit one of the most brilliant jewels of universal architecture is the Alhambra, a series of palaces and gardens built under the Nazari Dynasty in the 14th C. In the afternoon return to Malaga. Overnight in port.

Day 4 Malaga - Puerto Banus - Gibraltar

Early morning sailing and morning arrival in Porto Banus. Our morning optional excursion to Ronda. Its main feature is the immense Tajo or Chasm - a geological cleft in the rock that plunges about 100m deep. On the south side is a classic Moorish pueblo blanco of cobbled alleys, window grilles and whitewash. In 1761 an impressive bridge called the 'Puente Nuevo' was built which joins the old and new Ronda. Afternoon swim from the ship and time at
leisure. Evening sailing to Gibraltar and late evening arrival. Overnight in port.

Day 5 Gibraltar - Sevilla

Optional half day excursion in the “Rock”. We reach the Cable Car Base Station, which will take us to the Top Station perched on the summit of Gibraltar for a breathtaking view as you are suspended in mid-air. At the Top Station your guide will show you around the geography of this British colony. Then you will travel to the Middle Station and the sanctuary of Gibraltar’s older inhabitants, the Barbary Apes, roaming free around this station.Midday sailing to Sevilla. Swim stop. Overnight at sea.

Day 6 Sevilla

This morning we sail up the Guadalquivir river. Midday arrival and afternoon optional excursion to Sevilla, one of the most beautiful cities in Europe, where Moorish and Spanish art and culture have left their mark. Our optional excursion will bring you to the Cathedral, the Alcazar Palace and its Andalusian gardens, the Maria Luisa Park and the quaint and elegant district of Santa Cruz. Overnight in Seville port.

Day 7 Sevilla - Jerez de la Frontera - Cadiz - Portimao

Morning optional excursion to Seville by bus. Lunch in a local restaurant. Afternoon optional excursion by bus to Jerez de la Frontera, famous for its wines, horse breeding and flamenco.  Your tour will enable you to see the Alcazar, the cathedral and a “ganadería”, where bulls are raised for bullfighting. The ship departs from Sevilla with passengers not participating in the optional excursions and guests rejoin the ship in Cadiz in the evening.  Overnight at sea to Portimao – Portugal.

Day 8 Portimao

Midday arrival in Portimao. Our optional afternoon excursion will take us to Silves, largely destroyed by a 17th century earthquake. Marvel at the centuries-old Moorish castle complex with an underground water reservoir, a 13th Century Cathedral built by Alfonso X of Castile on the site of a former Mosque and a fine strong 15th century bridge over the Rio Arade.  During your visit to Silves, you'll also have time to browse the historic exhibits at the Museu Arqueológico. We leave Silves visit and travel into the Serra de Monchique to reach the picturesque city of Monchique nested between two hills. Return to Portimao for late lunch and time at leisure in the afternoon for shopping and swimming. Overnight in port.

Day 9 Portimao - Lisboa

Disembarkation 9 am. Escorted bus transfer from Portimao to Lisbon at 9:30 and end of cruise services. Perhaps head out on foot to get your bearings. The city’s landscape is typified by a central valley called the Baixa, beginning at the river with Pombal's Praça do Comercio, leading north over an orderly grid of avenues for seven short blocks to the Praça Rossio, in the very heart of town. Tonight, enjoy a traditional Fado show and dinner, with return transfers. Overnight Lisboa. (hotel)

Day 10 Lisboa

A morning tour today to the suburb of Belem, where you will visit the Torre de Belem, the Jeronimos Monastery and the Monument to the Discoveries. A gourmet highlight today is a stop at the famous “Casa Pasteis de Belem” to sample a delicious ‘pastel de nata’ or Portuguese custard tart. Your driver will then take you back to the city centre, to the Castelo San Jorge where your tour services come to an end. Afternoon free. Overnight Lisboa. (hotel)

Day 11 Lisboa - Sintra - Lisboa

A full day excursion today to visit the UNESCO World Heritage site of Sintra, drawing thousands of visitors every year. Sintra's stunning setting on the north slopes of the granite Serra, among wooded ravines and fresh water springs, made it a favourite summer retreat for the kings of Portugal. The tall conical chimneys of the Palacio Nacional de Sintra and the fabulous Palacio da Pena are unmistakable landmarks. On your tour, you will visit the colourful Palacio da Pena and enjoy strolling the pretty cobbled streets of the old town, Sintra Vila before returning to the capital. Free afternoon. Day 12 Lisboa

Farewell the city as you are transferred to the airport for your flight out of Portugal.
