Granada and the Lecrin Valley

Lecrin Valley Short Break - Two Days

Between the city of Granada and the Mediterranean coast lies a beautiful, sub-tropical corner of rural Andalucía known as the Lecrín Valley. It’s easy to understand why the Moorish occupiers in the early middle ages named it “The Valley of Happiness”:  the valley offers natural protection against the heat of summer and the cold of winter, there are streams and natural springs providing a freshness all year round, and the fields of almonds, vines, olives and citrus fruits make for a landscape that is very pleasing to the eye.

These Short Breaks offer a true slice of rural life where you can enjoy Spanish cookery classes, taste locally produced foods and wines and wander through the narrow, whitewashed streets and the surrounding countryside.

Day 1 Granada - Lecrin Valley

You will be collected from your hotel in Granada this morning at 09:30 and driven through the Lecrin Valley, passing through delightful, quiet villages which still preserve their allotments (huertas) and orange and lemon groves.  On the way there will be time for morning tea and a stroll through a typical village.
Once at the farmhouse, Scarlett will take you through the preparation of five tapas dishes, such as Tortilla Española and Albondigas (meatballs) and a local specialty called Remojón (Salad of Oranges, Salt Cod, Onions and Tomatoes).   Relax with a leisurely lunch on the sun-terrace as you enjoy the fruits of your labours.
After lunch you may wish to go on a short stroll through the campo or have a siesta in the garden or house before afternoon tea, served with delicious Moroccan sweets.  Dinner.

Day 2 Lecrin Valley - Granada

Breakfast and departure at 1000hrs when we will return by car back to Granada.
