Gourmet Wine Route

Day 1 Madrid

Arrive in Madrid. Airport pick up and transfer to the hotel. Hotel check in. Group tapas tour for dinner. Your guide will take you for a visit of the historical part of Madrid and a tapas dinner with all food and drinks included. This will be an introduction to the city and also to Spanish food and wine.

Day 2 Ribera del Duero

Ribera del Duero. We will visit three wineries in Ribera del Duero. One is a family-owned winery that has cellars from the 16th century. Taste the different wines produced, while enjoying the company of one of the owners. For lunch enjoy a typical roasted lamb in a wood fired oven with Ribera del Duero wines. After lunch, visit of a second winery with a total different philosophy. A visit of a third winery before hotel check in and dinner on your own.

Day 3 Burgos - La Rioja

Burgos and Rioja. Visit Peñafiel and its magnificent 11th C castle. Continue to Burgos and visit its impressive cathedral, built in the flamboyant - Gothic style and founded in 1221 by Bishop Mauricio under Fernando III. Lunch. Continue to Rioja for a winery visit and tasting and visit the medieval town of Laguardia. Perfectly preserved, the town is now pedestrian only to protect the many underground cellars from caving in. Hotel check in and dinner on your own.  Overnight.

Day 4 Rioja

Traditional Rioja. Enjoy a wine tour in Rioja with 2 winery visits and lunch. Begin with a visit to one of the traditional centenary wineries, a walk in the winery quarter in Haro and a visit to a boutique family owned winery. The tradition of Rioja is very well represented by these centenary wineries, which keep in their libraries bottles from the time of their founders. Visit the Wine Culture Museum Dinastía Vivanco. The Museum occupies a surface area of 4,000 m2 including 5 permanent exhibition halls, a hall for temporary exhibitions and a collection of grapevines boasting more than 220 varieties from around the world. Dinner on your own.

Day 5 Bilbao - San Sebastian

Bilbao and San Sebastian. Transfer to Bilbao. Visit the remarkable Guggenheim Museum. Frank O. Gehry was chosen to design the Bilbao museum since his concept reflected the potential of the project by successfully blending it to the industrial architecture of the city. Gehry's design is like a singular line sculpture made up of amazing materials. Lunch will be an opportunity to taste txacoli wine, a very interesting white wine produced only in the Basque country perfect companion for the fresh fish of the coast. Continue to San Sebastian, gastronomic capital of the country. Spend some time strolling the famous Concha promenade and enjoying the atmosphere of this very elegant city.

Day 6 San Sebastian

A last highlight, a Pintxos lunch tour. End of our services.
