Portugals Gastronomic North

Day 1 Porto

Arrival into Porto where you are met and transferred to your hotel for check in. Tonight enjoy a Fado Dinner and Show. Overnight.

Day 2 Porto

A full day to explore the sights of the city at leisure. The heart of the city is the wide, grass-lined, Av dos Aliados, which runs five blocks inland from the river. All of the sights lie south of this landmark. Overnight.

Day 3 Porto - Guimarães - Porto

Today enjoy a full day excursion to Guimaraes. The cobbled Rua de Santa Maria, lined with old town houses embellished with ornate statuary, leads up from the main square, the Largo da Oliveira, past the Paço dos Duques to the castle. Enjoy a wine tasting, tapas and two types of Portuguese cheese before returning to Porto. Overnight.

Day 4 Porto - Pinhao

Today take a regional train across to Pinhao, a small town 25km east of Peso da Regua, famous for its quality port-wine production. Rest of the day at leisure. Overnight.

Day 5 Pinhao - Valenca do Douro - Pinhao

A most interesting day as you enjoy a guided Winery walk.  You will be picked up from your hotel and transferred to Valença do Douro.  You will enjoy a 2hr circular walk through the vineyard followed by a visit of Quinta do Seixo winery and learn the story of Sandeman port wines.  After the tour, find your perfect picnic spot in the vineyard where you can enjoy your pre-prepared picnic of local delicacies including excellent local wine.   After lunch, transfer back to Pinhao OR optional 50min private sailing trip downstream to Folgosa quay.  Back to Pinhao. Overnight.

Day 6 Pinhao

Free day. Surrounded by vineyards, the town has many lodges and even the train station has azulejos depicting the wine harvest. Overnight.

Day 7 Pinhao - Porto

Transfer to Porto Airport...end of services.
