Day 1 Lisboa

Arrival in Lisbon where you are met at the airport and transferred to your accommodation for check in. Spend the rest of the day at leisure. Overnight Lisbon.

Day 2 Lisboa - Tomar - Alcobaça - Batalha - Lisboa

Breakfast. Today you have a full day tour visiting some of the most important monasteries in Portugal. Your first stop is the pretty historical town of Tomar, home to the Convento de Cristo, originally a Templar stronghold from the 12th C. The convent displays an ensemble of architectural styles including Romanesque art, Gothic and Manueline styles and Renaissance and Baroque features. As you travel on you will reach the famous Cistercian Abbey, the Abadia de Alcobaça. Located in Alcobaça, the abbey houses two of the most beautiful examples of 14th C sepulchral architecture in the tombs of King Dom Pedro and Doña Inês de Castro. Your final visit is to the great Gothic Monastery of Batalha, built by King Joao I. The monastery was erected in thanksgiving for his resounding victory over strong Spanish forces at the Battle of Aljubarrota in 1385. Return to Lisbon and overnight.

Day 3 Lisboa

Breakfast and check out of your hotel. You will then be transferred to the airport for your departure.
